Hi, I have Firefox ESR 52.4.1 on a computer, and I recently installed Firefox 75.0 on a new computer.

Note that the Firefox on the first computer *cannot* be updated, owing to administrative issues (it's a company computer).

I have accessed my Firefox sync account on both computers. On both, sync is set to sync passwords/logins. I see that the sync is complete in both.

Now I see that *a few* passwords/logins are missing in the *new* Firefox. Some are there, some are not. I can see this by comparing the search results for some logins on the old Firefox (under Options/Security/Saved logins) and the new Firefox (under Logins and Passwords).

From what I see, the same passwords are in fact also missing from my android Firefox (68.7.0).

I suppose the cause may be connected to the difference in versions between the two Firefox. But why are some logins still synced then?

My questions are:

- Since I cannot update the old Firefox, how can I import the missing passwords to the new Firefox?

- Is it maybe possible to import them by copying the key3.db and logins.json files? Must I follow any specific steps to copy them?

Thank you!

Note that Firefox 52.4.1 isn't the last Firefox 52 ESR version (that is 52.9.0).

In theory you should be able to get the logins from Firefox 52 ESR to Firefox 75 by copying logins.json and key3.db to the Firefox 75 profile folder. Firefox 75 uses key4.db for the key file, but can fallback to key3.db if key4.db isn't found. You need to rename the existing key4.db to key4SAV.db and logins.json to loginsSAV.json as a backup or move them to a safe location just to be sure.

Hi and thank you for your suggestions. Yes I know that 52-version isn't the last; that laptop isn't administrated by me and I can't upgrade.

I tried what you said; specifically:

- made sure I wasn't signed in Firefox Sync

- quit Firefox

- moved key4.db and logins.json from profile folder to my desktop

- copied in the key3.db and logins.son from the older Firefox of the other laptop

- restarted Firefox

Unfortunately no logins at all appeared under "Logins and Passwords". I also noticed that Firefox created a new key4.db besides the now present key3.db. Let me know if any of my steps were incorrect.

Looks like I have to copy the missing logins and passwords (around a hundred) by hand.
