Fast closing of opened Tabs from dropdown list

more options

Hi, Currently, it is possible to close tab only from line of Tabs on the top of the window. Unfortunately in this view, it is impossible to see the long name of Tab (in case if you have tens of it) and the user should open each Tab before close it. Would you add functionality to close Tabs from the Tabs dropdown list ( just add X at the right side of each line) or add some Tab Manager view (as you have for Bookmarks) with same close Tab function?

Thank you.

Hi PhredE, this thread is about the line that used to run down the right side of the all tabs list indicating which tabs are currently visible vs. which were in the scrolled area.

You wrote:

Currently, we seem to have to run our mouse cursor over each tab in turn and read the tiny text of the tab's title. Madness.

However, I don't understand why that is necessary. If you want to access a tab from the "all tabs" drop list, just click the tab on that list. What am I missing?

If the problem is that you don't have enough tabs open to generate that list, you can use a style rule hack to force the list to appear even when you only have a few tabs open. There's another thread on that:

Or you could consider an add-on if you want a list with more/different features.

Hi olexa.karpenko, I realize it's an extra click or keypress but you can use the Close Tab menu item on the context menu. Here's what I mean:

  • Open the "All Tabs" drop-down
  • Right-click the item you want to close
  • Either click "Close Tab" or press the accelerator key on the keyboard for that item (on U.S. English, it's c)

I don't know about anyone else, but as a right-handed person I find this fast because I can right click with one hand and immediately tap the c key with the other.

This All Tabs drop-down has been getting minor updates in recent versions and is expected to a major redesign in the future. I have no idea whether close buttons will be an option.
