I need to backup my bookmark from Firefox for Android. To this end I am syncing them with my desktop Firefox on Ubuntu. The bookmarks appear as Mobile Bookmarks. Now, when I export the bookmarks with the bookmarks manager, the Mobile Bookmarks are surprisingly NOT included.

Is there a way to export the Mobile Bookmarks, either on Android or Desktop?

(I am about to prepare a number of tablets for education puposes.)

Hi Algenib, yes, for some reason, Mobile Bookmarks are not included in the HTML export. Here are two workarounds:

(A) Copy the bookmarks to Bookmarks Menu, Bookmarks Toolbar, or Other Bookmarks

In the Library window, with Mobile Bookmarks selected in the left column, select everything on the right side and copy (Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C or on Mac, Command+A, Command+C).

Change categories on the left, right-click a blank area on the right side, and Paste.

Then the pasted bookmarks should be exportable.

As a bonus, you will have access to these bookmarks even when not connected to your Firefox Account.

(B) Convert a backup

(1) Create a JSON-format backup

Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer

(2) Use my conversion tool to create your HTML file

Please let me know if you run into any problems with either approach.

Hey, thanks a lot. Saved my day!

But isn't it extremely annoying that there is no simple backup solution for mobile bookmarks. Strange policy.
