Source pc: Linux Mint Firefox 98.0.2 Manage Bookmarks, select All Bookmarks, Export to HTML, creates a bookmarks.html in ~/Downloads.

Move this file to my data server where ALL pc's have access.

Target pc: win10 Firefox 98.0.2 Manage Bookmarks, select all bookmarks, Import from HTML, point to bookmarks.html

Result: Bookmarks Menu is populated. Bookmarks Toolbar is not populated. (I have 15 toolbars) Menu Bar enabled, Bookmarks Toolbar Always show.

I can sync my account and this works, Bookmarks Toolbar is properly populated.

Note that always all the bookmarks are exported, so there shouldn't be a need to select all the bookmarks.

Did you try to open this bookmarks.html in a Firefox tab to check whether it has all your bookmarks ?

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync temporarily during troubleshooting.

This could be a problem with the places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use the "Places Database" -> "Verify Integrity" button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

If errors are reported with "Verify Integrity", close and restart Firefox or reboot and retry.

If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite, rename/remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from the most recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

  • keep a backup copy of places.sqlite in case a new places.sqlite database has to be created
  • you lose the history when a new places.sqlite is created

You may have to restore an older bookmarks backup in the bookmarkbackups folder via the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

You can use the button on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page (Root directory).

The issue is it does not import the Bookmarks Toolbar to the right folder.

I added two pics, source (linux) and target (win10). You can see the Bookmarks Toolbar is not populated.

Keep it simple and use Sync. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-sync-my-computer Notice my Synced devices. see screenshot

jonzn, yes, sync works.

I posted this issue so that the Devs can fix the export/import code.
