I am migrating from WLM to Thunderbird. Trying to reconstruct several mail lists. Thunderbird Instructions say that all I have to do is drag and drop entries in the address book into the mail list folder. For unknown reasons, this doesn't work. Mail lists remain empty. Anybody have a fix?

I am not familiar with whatever you're reading, but I think WLM can create a csv file that could be imported.

The csv file imported without a problem. My question is that, in trying to create a mail list, the drag and drop procedure is not working.

Drag and drop from address books to mailing lists still works, but you have to first select the contact(s) in the middle pane of the address book, so they are highlighted, and then drag and drop them to the mailing list icon in the left pane. Previously, drag and drop worked directly without having to highlight the contacts. This might be changed in an upcoming 102 release:

I just discovered that when I imported my WLM address book, the email addresses wound up in the "Display Name" field. I don't understand why this happened. perhaps that is why the drag and drop does not work. However, I manually fixed a few entries and am still not able to drag and drop those entries. You reference a "middle pane". I don't know what that is. Looking at my address book, I see four columns "name", 'email addresses', 'phone numbers' and 'addresses'. I don't see anything that I would call a pane.

After I edited a few contacts by adding in the email addresses, the drag and drop still does not work. I am a knowledgeable user and this one has me stumped.

If the email addresses ended up in the wrong place, it's because the input fields of the csv weren't matched correctly with the TB fields during the import process. Importing WLM contacts might be easier with vCards.

In the attached picture, note the contacts appear in the middle, and the contact details appear on the right. Select a contact(s) so it is highlighted in blue, then drag it over a list or address book icon on the left side, and drop it. Holding Ctrl while doing this will copy, not move, if dragging to an address book.

The vcf import worked, especially after I found out how to do a batch operation.

However, the presentation in your attachment is different than what I see when I select my address book. I see lists of names, preceded by a blank avatar and email addresses in a single pane. In your attachment the list is presented with a circle A followed by the domain name underlined by the contact located in a center pane. How do I get that presentation?

I figured it out. I had to switch to "Horizontal Layout" in the menu. Now drag and drop works. Might want to post this solution in the help files.

Thanks for the help.
