Is there any means to add an option to disable JavaScript in Firefox Focus? This browser has been my go-to / default browser for years on iOS, but lately it has become more difficult to use because websites wait several seconds or wait until I’ve scrolled halfway through a page before blasting a huge window up on the screen asking/demanding/requesting I sign in or agree to their (not so private) privacy policy. Even if I get by that, it seems to refresh the page and I lose where I was.

I’ve found Safari obviates this issue when I leave JavaScript off. I don’t really want to shift entirely to safari, but websites have made using Firefox Focus a bit less useful because of those pop-up windows.

I primarily use Tor Browser or Firefox with uBlock Origin (JavaScript disabled) on my regular computers and happily have few issues using the internet.

Hi

Do you have an example of a website where this is happening?

Is it as a mandatory GDPR options screen that you are seeing?

The Washington Post’s website does this.

Heart.org (American heart association) blasts a whole-screen pop-up ad.

As this is Firefox Focus, I cannot easily check it to verify. These are just two websites that I recall did it tonight.

These do not appear to be for GDPR-specific, as thy show up regardless of whether I’m VPNing in from an EU country, an African country, or North America.

Leaving JavaScript off in Safari eliminates this problem. I’m just asking if it’s possible to put in a JavaScript toggle in Firefox Focus.

The LA times covers the bottom third of the screen with an ad.

CBS and Reddit both render their sites unusable with Firefox Focus, as they require you to switch to their app or use Safari. Not an expert here, but my guess is that that’s js code running to prevent using Firefox Focus.

Hi

I am using Firefox for Android (I do not have an iOS device immediately to hand), but if I select the options to "Block other content trackers" and "Block JavaScript", the pop up advert in http://heart.org/ does not appear.

Two months in, no way forward on disabling javascript for Firefox Focus in iOS?

Is this better served by filing a feature request?
