Hi!

Some weeks ago Ubuntu decided to upgrade my Thunderbird from version 91 to 102 (or maybe first 101?).

Ever since that, my whole computers has been kind of 'amputated', and Thunderbird has been so extremely buggy as never before! It's hell! So is there any way of getting out of this nightmare and back to the very pleasant experience of TB v.91?

Thank you.

Where did the content of my question go??

I wrote more or less this:

How can I downgrade from Thunderbird ver. 102 to ver. 91 on Ubuntu? Ubuntu automatically upgraded my TB from v.91 to v.102 (or v.101) a few weeks ago. It's VERY buggy! I really hate it. Ver. 102 is a very unpleasant experience compared to TB v.91!

I'm sorry that I cannot offer advice to downgrade, however, you are not alone with your TB update frustrations. @MOZILLA -- ARE YOU LISTENING?

I just searched how to download older versions of TB - cannot find -- seems to have been removed.

I have resolved to never allow my update manager install a new TB until it is at least a month old. Then I search on-line for "Thunderbird 10x update problem" to see if the new TB is safe. If it is not safe, I leave updates longer.

Sadly, this is the same thing Microsoft product users have had to do for decades to do to avoid MS update hazards.

I'm becoming disenchanted with TB after at LEAST 20 years of use.

Hi Greg!

Thank you for sharing your frustration!

I don't think I will setup TB to postpone installing updates. I will risk being stuck with the huge problems of ver. 102 for even longer... ;-)

Downgrading should never be done. Upgrades sometimes have problems, but its a bridge to be crossed. My suggestion for insurance is to routinely make backups of important data, which includes the Thunderbird profile, done only when Thunderbird is not running. Unfortunately, too many people will backup other software they use, but take for granted that their email software doesn't need it. Good luck.
