How to automatically close tab

I do a lot of link posting from my professional site to various Reddit subs in which I am a member. In the past, FF would automatically close the Reddit tab after I posted the link to the sub. But now after posting, the tab remains open. This is inconvenient because I then have to close all those tabs manually. I would prefer the tab to close itself.

The odd thing is that for other sites where I post links (Buffer, Flipboard, Facebook, etc.) the tab closes automatically after posting.

Anyone know of a fix or way to configure the Reddit site to do that? Could there be a browser setting that directs those other sites to close the tab automatically?

Hi Richard, Firefox does not normally close tabs on its own. When a page opens a popup window for a particular task it may close the window when that task is completed, but this is part of the site design, not an action by Firefox.

What is the process you're using to open those tabs to share the link? Are you navigating there manually, or using a share button on a site, or using an add-on?

Are you using an extension to achieve this ?

You may have to allow this extension on this webpage via the Extensions button. See:

I should have mentioned that: I'm using the Sassy Share Wordpress plugin to post the link to Flipboard, Twitter, Facebook and Reddit. When I click on the social media icon on my web page, it opens a new tab (not a pop-up). I go to the new tab, complete the post, publish it. For all the platforms except Reddit, the social media tab closes automatically and returns me to my website. Only Reddit doesn't do that.

I don't believe the plugin controls tab behavior. If you said the website controls this, would this mean Reddit's site controls this behavior? If so, I wonder if there's a setting on Reddit that would govern this.
