Firefox freezes computer when it starts
Firefox 3.6.12 had some issues yesterday with "not responding". I closed it out and restarted which helped for a while. A while later, the entire computer froze. I had to do a hard shut down. Upon reboot, when FF opened, the entire computer froze again. It does it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I try to start FF.
I uninstalled FF, and deleted all related files. Restarted the computer. Did a fresh install of FF. (3.6.13) When I launched FF, computer froze again. Rebooted. Uninstalled, deleted...then tried the beta version of 4. Same thing. Firefox froze upon launch.
I've done a memory check. No problems there. Scanned the hard drive. No problems there. No installs recently. Nothing has changed except Firefox. No new plugins for FF. No new add-ons, either.
I miss my Firefox...someone please help me. I'm stumped.

I think firefox is generally fairly stable and not expected to crash your machine, do other things also cause the machine to crash?
At what point does the crash occur, do you get the firefox programme itself opening properly and the browser appearing. See Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix
Use firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode and set it to open with a blank page as the home page. You could look at Firefox Crashes although that relates more to firefox itself crashing.
I am not a Windows 7, but presumably you have event logs which may give a clue as to what happens.
Firefox does not open fully. It opens to a white screen--no toolbars or anything load at all. And then everything freezes. I can't even do ctrl+alt+del.
The home page was set to Google...so it wasn't anything intense.
No other programs cause me to crash.
I've used Firefox for years, and never had this problem. My system is only a few months old, but I've never had a problem prior to yesterday with Firefox.
Did you try using safe mode with a blank page or a file from your local pc as the home page , maybe even with internet unplugged, does that still cause a crash ?
What is your event log showing ? does that give any clues ?
