Firefox 4 has massive problem, slow, jumpy etc
I've had to downgrade, Firefox 4 just doesn't perform.
I have an Intel I7 920, 6GB RAM, Windows 7 64 bit, ATI HD 5850, SSD, Caviar black hd etc, pretty high end and the browser runs like a dog.
It jerks, moving between tabs jerks, scrolling jerks, its has momentary freezes, menus freeze everything. It seems to have issues with windows 7s UI features (click full screen etc), won't scroll properly all sorts of things.

Same here, i7 920, 12GB, GTX 480, C300 SSD, Win 7 x64, and it takes a good second and a half to open firefox and some sites are very jerky and laggy.
I WAS ABLE TO SOLVE THE "JUMPY" PROBLEM
At first when I installed firefox 4.0 it recommended me to update or something my existing add-ons. I actually can't remember if it was recommending me to update or telling me they were not compatible with that version, whatever it was I remember I clicked "OK" or whatever. I only had the colorful tabs add-on and it did work with firefox 4.0 (so I guess I did updated it to that version) but youtube videos were jumpy and browsing was laggy in general. I disabled that particular add-on and now I don't have the problem. I'm able to watch videos on youtube without a problem.
Maybe you have an add-on that's messing up firefox 4.0. Try disabling them to see which one is the problem.
And please firefox support dudes, fix the colorful tabs add-on, I really love it and I can't use it anymore with the new version.
Cheers.
If you have the Colorful Tabs add-on, what seems to help a little is to put the tabs back below the navigation bar. The way you do that is right click in a blank area up top to get the Customize option. When that opens, you'll see "Tabs on Top" checked off. Uncheck it and it will move the tabs down. It seems to help with the annoying jumpiness, at least some of the time -- and, to be honest, I prefer the tabs below the navigation bar anyway, as they were v.3.
