Plugin check says the Acrobat Reader plugin (10.0.1.434) is an outdated version; however, I downloaded the latest version of Acrobat and installed it. Is there a problem on my PC /environment or with the plugin check?

1. Did the plugin check on June 10th -- got the message that Acrobat Reader plugin for Firefox and Netscape was an outdated version. Pressed the Update button on the page and was taken to the Adobe site. 2. Downloaded the latest version, AdbeRdr1001_en_US.exe, and then ran the executable locally on the PC. The update completed normally. Note: I did not unistall the old Acrobat reader before running the executable. 3. Went back to the plugin check page and I still received the outdated message for that plugin. Have rebooted system (i.e. the next day) and repeated the check, with the same results. 4. Have opened Acrobat Reader application, pressed Help and then Check for Updates -- no new updates were found. Have run the Mozilla test (Mozilla Privacy Policy PDF) without any issues. 5. What is the plugin version that should be registered on my PC within the Add-ons Manager? 6. Please advise on the appropriate steps.

For those who were having this problem. Adobe had released a patch yesterday and you should update your Adobe Reader immediately. The latest version is 10.1.0. Once you updated, your Firefox Adobe Acrobat plug-in will be automatically updated to 10.1.0.534.

If you didn't receive a Update notification from Adobe, you can open Adobe and go to: Help > Check Updates

I think there is a bug in Plug-in check. It happened to me as well in the last few days. There's no newer version of Adobe Reader that I know of. Anyway, Adobe is going to release a patch next Tuesday, maybe that'll fix this bug.

Thanks for your reply -- will wait and see what happens.

It might be an improvement if the plugin check page could display what the most recent version of plugin is [in addition to the current version installed] when you get an outdated plugin symbol displayed.

I think plugincheck has incorrect information about what the most recent version of Adobe Reaader X (10) is.

I've tried several times to save files in pdf format but Firefox 4.0 will not allow the plugin from Adobe to do so. I own Adobe Acrobat Professional 10. The plugin for MS IE works fine.

Thanks for your reply. Have updated all the Adobe products and Java -- everything is now OK on the plugin check.

Sorry, but I tried just now and got the same results. I even disabled Symantec, as suggested by Adobe. Installation seemed to proceed normally, and I restarted Firefox.

Not only did Plugin-check show that Adobe Reader still needed to be updated, but Reader failed when I tried to load a PDF file -- gave a message that the file could not be read in my browser, but would have to be downloaded and read with Acrobat.

I got into this mess because I was starting to receive Denial of Service warnings, with a 10-minute interruption of internet access. So for now I'm "resolving" the problem by disabling the Adobe Reader plug-in. Blahh.

Did you try to uninstall Adobe Reader (from Control Panel; Add/Remove) and reinstall it again to see if it'll fix the problems?
