I am not sure from the details you provide what is crashing.
Is this actually crashing the XP Operating System
- giving you a blue Screen ?
- and stopping you from using the computer until you reboot ?
If it is only Firefox crashing, and the computer does not need rebooting, Firefox will attempt to record information and submit a crash report. (see firefox crashes)
