Sometimes Firefox remembers my passwords, sometimes it doesn't, Preferences "remember passwords" is checked and are in 'saved passwords'. Username comes up but not password and if I go to new sites it doesn't prompt to "remember" at all.

I just got a "new" used computer and had to switch over to Firefox from Safari, because I couldn't view my verizon e-mails and when I called verizon they told me to switch to firefox and yes, it worked, I could then view my e-mails... but when I enter (for ex.) my verizon e-mail account, the first time Firefox prompted me with"remember password" etc. which I checked to remember it, but it seems to have promptly forgot it, even though I go to preferences and it is checked "remember passwords" and when I go to "saved passwords" that site is marked as saved, but it still does not remember it! It does however remember my username, but does not remember my password. Though, weirdly sometimes it does remember and I think it's working, yes!, then next time it doesn't work... aargh

Also when I go to another site (ones a frequent daily) and I WANT firefox to remember my password, it will not prompt me, I do not get the "remember this" or not or not now option. So I have to continually type in all that info on these sites I visit daily and it is very annoying. I would switch back to Safari in a minute, but my verizon account will not show my e-mail on that browser. Ok, I am on a MAC with a 10.4.11 system, I know that's old, but its all I got. Downloaded Firefox 3.6.24

thanks for your reply, I tried everything you said, but I am still having problems. I bookmarked the "remember password" thing and followed instructions and for about two weeks this actually worked! yes! and but, suddenly, my passwords are all forgotten again....

aargh. Don't know what to do. Am beginning to hate firefox. Any other suggestions?

Some sites like Yahoo really mess things up by remembering a password for three weeks so you think you are set and then it requires reentry of password and it is saved incorrectly or not saved at a. Sites like Google don't pay attention, so you have to act as if you want to sign in as another user then it fills in the information after the standard double-click in the userid field to chose the userid. I don't think Verizon does either of those -- I have Verizon but don't use the web interface.

Another thing that may go wrong is deleting passwords, or deleting the cookie that indicates it knows you have stored a password.

Also check your password for your Verizon login that you have the correct password saved correctly: Tools > Options > Security > Saved Passwords > Show Passwords

You will be asked twice for your master password -- hopefully you do protect your passwords.

If the password is incorrect, I would delete it and some verizon.com cookies (no other cookies, so you start over again and you should be asked if you want to remember the password.
