I've read the bug threads regarding implementing the new-style (thin, disappearing) scrollbars in Lion from last November, but my understanding is that they were implement a few version back. I'm running Firefox 12.0 on Mac OS Lion 10.7.3, and I'm still seeing the old-style scrollbars! I've reinstalled Firefox, started with a new profile, and searched through about:config for a toggle, all to no avail. What's going on with my copy of Firefox?? Why is it living in the past?

Okay, I finally figured it out, after several hours of debugging the Library folder. It was something in ~/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist. I deleted that file, and Firefox's scrollbars went back to normal. Now I'm no longer seeing the Aqua-style scrollbars in Lion. Yay! Thanks, me!  :-)

After further investigation, it doesn't matter which version of Firefox I'm running, I get the old-style scroll bars no matter what. I've tried Firefox 12.0, Firefox 13b3, and Aurora, and I always get the old-style scrollbars. Help, please! I don't want to have to go back to Chrome!

Hi Grigsby,
Well done, thanks for posting an answer. Sorry no one replied to your question.

Bumping threads. (current forum filters)
Just a tip for forum use, duplicate threads are normally frowned upon, but if you are in a situation where you post a question and then add further information your thread shows in forum helpers filters as answered, and so is unlikely to attract further answers.

In such a situation If after three days you have not had a reply it may be ok to repeat the question in full and with the additional information in a single post. That way you have a question that shows as unanswered. If possible provide a cross link back to the original question.

In fact the best solution, although it is not mentioned is to visit the forum, and find your own thread and add the additional information by editing it. Currently editing a post will bump a thread, but will not affect the answer status, so the thread may be updated with additional information, bumped and yet still be shown in the forum filters as unanswered.

At one time many questions remained unanswered. The forum has been improving recently and in recent months 90-100% of questions have at least received an answer. We do not do so well in actually providing answers that users mark as solving the question.

BTW We are always looking for new people to volunteer and give a hand in any way they can.

Support forum questions vary in complexity but many users will not have no knowledge of bugzilla or about: protocols and would have no idea where to begin in trying to resolve the sort of question you asked then answered.
