When I start Firefox 13 (on Windows 7), Windows Explorer becomes very slow. Only when I start in Safemode then it's OK. I disabled all plugins and extension, but starting FF in normal mode is slowing down my PC (so bad, it becomes unworkable). Closing FF doesn't help, until I logoff & logon to Windows.

Unfortunately, Chrome doesn't work properly with all websites..

Hi,

You can try to deselect Use hardware acceleration when possible in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > General. Safe mode disables hardware acceleration in addition to the extensions and themes (Appearance).

Hi, I tried it, but it doesn't solve the problem. So the moment I start FF, with hardware acceleration disabled, all plugins & extensions disabled, my PC becomes sluggish. (Strangely, FF itself it still reasonably fast).

I don't see anything strange in Windows Task Manager. Now I consider removing FF completely, maybe I search for an old version (10 or so).

I still have FF 3.6 Portable which is working fine (except for a nag-screen telling me that FF 3.6 is outdated).

Actually I already removed FF 13 and reinstalled it last week. Because the last 1 or 2 months the first time I started FF it would freeze. I killed it with Task Manager and the 2nd time it would start normally. This behaviour is gone, now it's just slowing my whole system.

Thanks for the reply.

You may also want to consider the Reset Firefox feature via Help (Alt + H) > Troubleshooting Information.

Thanks. I did the Reset Firefox, rebooted my PC. But still, the same behavior.

I might look for an old version of FF, but it'll be Chrome for now (and IE for the occasional site not yet supported by Chrome).
