Earlier tonight, I upgraded my CrunchyRoll account to premium so I could watch all the anime I wanted. But Opera was having a difficult time loading the videos, and a friend told me that Firefox worked best with that site, so I downloaded Firefox JUST so I could watch anime on CrunchyRoll. But when I try to go to CrunchyRoll, Firefox freezes, and I have to use task manager to close it. It lets me go to Facebook and Google and all sorts of other sites, but before it even starts to load CrunchyRoll, it freezes. Also, I have Windows 8.

I don't have a CrunchyRoll, so I can't test it here, but I'll try to help.

Does the problem only happen when you're logged in? Try clearing your cache and cookies.

  1. Open the Tools menu, then select Clear Recent History.
  2. In the Time Range to clear drop-down, select Everything.
  3. Click the arrow next to Details to display the list of items that can be cleared.
  4. Select both Cookies and Cache.
  5. Click Clear Now.

There is lots of JavaScript running on that website, so make sure that you aren't blocking it.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I tried both of those things and it froze in the process. In safe mode, it froze on the New Tab screen, before I could even try to type anything in. I wonder if Firefox can even be used with Windows 8, yet. May be a compatibility issue.

Can you open a page via about:blank or about:home ?

Those two work, yes.

You can open those internal pages, but you can't open any internet pages?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

...wow. Firefox (or even "Mozilla") isn't even on the list of programs on the Firewall list, allowed or not. How do I put it on there? I don't see an "Add Program" button.
