I know of the biggest reason why internet is running slow is that the websites ppened with MF continues to run in the background even after I've closed them. It's not until I have to do a full shutdown and reboot and I re-open Firefox and open a new tab is when I see I have at least 40 websites still running blindly in the background. Before MF switched to this, IE has the same way too so I could no longer use IE and used solely MF. Now that MF is doing it, my internet has slowed to almost stopping all functions. I have no choice but to abandon IE and MF until this is fixed.I tried all the suggestions but to no avail. I had the IP (Verizon) change out both router and outside box for brand new thinking they (Verizon) could be faulty and hasn't fixed the problem but cleared up other search browsers speeds. If you could have it back to the way it was before constantly running websites in the background, I know this would fix my problem and many others. Is there any settings I can change so it won't constantly run websites?

Here is another MF user's post with the same issue. Firefox is running very slowly now. Videos on all sites take forever to load, if they load at all. & games are choppy & run in slow motion. Firefox is also often completely unresponsive, & randomly freezes when typing comments, clicking links, etc. I had some problems before, but since upgrading to Firefox 13, it's been ridiculously bad. I even called my internet provider, Charter, cause I thought it was something they were doin. Their Speed Test is one reason I know it's not them. When I run the Speed Test using Windows IE, I get these results: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/1702077109.png When I run that same test through Firefox, I get these results: http://speedtest.ookla.com/result/1702070678.png I've already tried several things to fix this, including a complete uninstall/re-install.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.
