In the latest version of Thunderbird, when writing a new message, you have now changed the white address lines to blue, and I now lose my insertion places. How do I change the address and subject lines back to white?

The simplest way to restore white lines is to install a theme such as this one:

I have downloaded the suggested theme, which has solved my blue address lines, but now everything else, text, etc. is blue. How do I get it all back to black?

If you want to change just one part of the interface, such as the address lines colour, you will probably have to modify the userChrome.css file in a way that I'm not precisely aware of, for this particular element. Otherwise, try a different theme until you find one that is satisfactory.

Can anyone in the Mozilla design team please tell us how to revert the user interface back to the earlier version, or is there a way to de-install the new version and go back to older versions that is more user-friendly?

options: 1. try a different theme which you can download as previously described. there are several themes and it may take some trial and error to find one you prefer.

2. Uninstall thunderbird and download and reinstall an earlier version. Locate version 24.7 here: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/24.7.0/

select the type for your OS eg: If Windows click on 'win32' Select the language of choice eg: en-GB = English British then download the exe file

3. Create the following userChrome.css file, so that you can keep using up to date Thunderbird:

This does bring back the white background for all headers - FROM, TO, SUBJECT fields.

access your Profile folders. make hidden files and folders visible:

In thunderbird Help > Troubleshooting Information click on 'show folders' a new window opens showing your Profile Folder. You will see a 'Mail' folder amongst others.

Close Thunderbird now - this is important.

In Profile folder create a new folder called 'chrome'. It should be in the same place as the 'Mail' folder. Please note the spelling of 'chrome' and userChrome, css', it is case sensitive.

Open Notepad Copy paste the following and then save the file as userChrome.css in the chrome folder in the Thunderbird Profile folder name. When all is saved, restart Thunderbird.

sorry need to make a change as this is not rendering as required; all the hash tags changed to numbers.....
