How do I open a Word Docx and edit it on my icloud email account?

more options

I emailed a document in Word doc. The person who emailed me back emailed an attachment in Word Docx format. However, I can't open it. I need to open it, edit it, and email it back to the sender. I couldn't open the document on my Ipad. But I thought I could open it in my icloud email account on a Mac Desktop. I still can not open the attachment. Please explain how I can open it. Thanks!

If you do not have Microsoft Office, you could try this open source office suite. It doesn't claim to be able to translate all DOCX content, so glitches are possible. Note: it's a very large download.

LibreOffice: http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/

If it doesn't turn out well, or if this is sounding like a huge waste of time, ask your correspondent to re-save the file using the older DOC format. That format has been stable since 2003 so more programs are able to open DOC files than DOCX files.

Download the new file. Open it using your programs, save when you are done. After, just send the new file back.
