After I uninstall TB, why does it come back as my old TB when I reinstall. Trying to solve problems by reinstalling??
I want a clean slate. Uninstall TB and redownload. My download comes with all my files and everything just as it was. Why can't I get a new Thunderbird and reset it up for my email?

After uninstalling Thunderbird, delete the folder: C:\Users\*username*\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird
Where *username* is your username.
You will have to enable "Show Hidden Files", to see the AppData folder:
Windows 7: Menu bar: Tools: Folder Options: View tab: Show Hidden Files (radio button)
Windows 8: Menu bar: View: Options: Change folder and search options: View tab: Show Hidden Files (radio button)

I don't know what problem you have, but in most cases re-installing is a silly idea, because all information is kept in the profile. And the profile is retained when uninstalling the application. You'd need to delete the profile to start from scratch.
Genious. Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have tried every way and everybody. The option to show remote content question had disappeared and now with a fresh start it's there. I found the file with my name and roaming and deleted it. Yipeeee. I have spent 2 days on this! Thanks again!
The smart guy below showed me how to delete the profile in case you ever want a fresh start to fix something seemingly not fixable, or help someone else. Not a silly idea!
