There are a few (very few) web sites that I want to have their cookies retained. I don't want these cookies deleted at all. Is there a way to save only certain select cookies and delete all the others?

hello RealGomer, you can set firefox to use custom settings for history in the firefox menu ≡ > options > privacy panel.

in there keep accept cookies from sites checked, but set keep until: until i close firefox - so all cookies will become session cookies which are cleared once you close the browser. for sites that should retain their cookies longer (for example because you want to stay logged-in to them across sessions) you can set an exception and allow them to set cookies, either through the exceptions... manager in the privacy panel or when you right click on a page and go to view page info > permissions...

The addon Biscuit 2.4.2 allows to save any cookies you wish to not be deleted. The addon BetterPrivacy 1.68 allows for the deletion from your system of all Flash LSO super tracking cookies at FireFox shutdown

I have used these for many years now and would advise everyone to at least use BetterPrivacy.
