How do I fix my Thunderbird which is running extremely slowly? CAUSE: McAfee AV
For the past few weeks, when turning on my computer and accessing Thunderbird, almost every operation is slow....it takes time when clicking on messages to open, when delating messages Thunderbird becomes unresponsive and a simple deletion may take a minute or more. Everything is sooooo slow and what used to take no time at all takes me forever. I receive and send dozens of emails every day and I have several folders into which I place valuable received or sent messages. I have completed virus scans and all seems okay. The problem is so bad that I have contemplated ceasing to use Thunderbird and switching to Outlook or something else. How do I get Thunderbird back 'up to speed'?

is there such a thing as the best FREE anti-virus
I don't know. You don't need to remove McAfee, but you'd need to make the changes mentioned in the article.
If you're having difficulties contact McAfee support.
If you still have McAfee installed, I would be very interested to know from you if the problem is seen with McAFee enabled and version 38 installed.
38.0b1 beta link at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/channel/ Is the problem gone?
