Yesterday firefox downlaoded 1GB of data in the background when I was not even using it on the internet. This has busted my monthly data allowance.

Does anybody what big fie it may have been downloading and why?

How do I stop firefox from downloading such large file without express permission?

thanks

Many programs, including Firefox, phone home for updates and such.

I know that programs pull down automatic updates, but 1GB is excessive, the whole program folder is only 87Mb, so what is the 913Mb for?

Hi, if you are using Windows 10, that updates sometimes large amounts automatically, and doesn't have the settings that are available in Win 7 and earlier to stop it. The easiest way to control it at the moment seems to be to set your connection to Metered.
