Hello I recently started using Thunderbird and as I tried to reclaim my inbox again I created several folders in my email while signed in on a browser, now when I go to Thunderbird those folders do NOT show up. I would like to add these folders (and sync) these folders in Thunderbird. I tried syncing them via manage folder subscriptions > Refresh, and this does not help.

I also tried (on the account) Settings > Server Settings > advanced > unchecking 'show only subscribed folders' with no success. I also went back in and unchecked 'Server supports folders that contain subfolders and messages'.

I also tried creating a folder in Thunderbird named exactly the same as one of the folders I created in the browser and set it to synchronized however none of the messages that I moved into the folder (in the browser) show up in the folder in Thunderbird. some emails that I have moved into different folders (in the browser) remain in their original folders in Thunderbird. My inbox updates regularly and SOME folders do update (these folders were created before I signed into Thunderbird) the new folders created after do not however show up in either the manage folder subscriptions settings or the left hand pane under my email.

I'm using: Thunderbird 45.6.0 on Windows 10. and a IMAP mail server

-Thank You for your time

Forgive me if these first two items are obvious to you, and if you have done them already. Unfortunately many people need to be told to do them.

1. Quit Thunderbird and start it again. I've found that new IMAP folders created through webmail do not show up in Thunderbird until Thunderbird has restarted.

2. Reboot the computer.

Assuming that you have done these and the issue remains, please provide your Troubleshooting Information from Thunderbird: Thunderbird menu: Help: Troubleshooting Information Click the "Copy text to clipboard" button. Paste (Ctrl-V), the text into your response here.

right click the account folder, select subscribe.

Are the folders subscribed?

All the Folders that show up in the windows are check marked, several that were created via webmail do not show up in that window to check mark. The folder that I created in Thunderbird as a test showed up on the side when I use webmail

You have 4 e-mail accounts set up in Thunderbird, 2 for Gmail and 2 for AOL.

Does this happen with all 4 accounts, or just one? Which one?

more options

With all four, if I make a folder within Thunderbird (tested for AOL + gmail) it shows up in webmail, but creating a folder the webmail does not show up in Thunderbird.

more options

Just confirm, do you have these two settings enabled? - Server supports folders that contain sub-folders and messages - Allow server to override these namespaces

If so, then I'm stumped. It sounds like both Gmail and AOL are not pushing the new folder names to Thunderbird, which doesn't make sense. I cannot find any options (or think of any), in Thunderbird that would stop the e-mail server from informing it of new folders.

I would Create a new profile in Thunderbird for testing, so see if the behavior would happen in a new Profile.
