Marking a sender as JUNK only turns on the flame icon, it does not automatically send it to the Junk folder.

I have marked a number of emails as junk. When I do they disappear. BUT the next time they come in they are still in my In-Box they just have this little flame icon on them and must be deleted manually EVERY time. Why doesn't it send junk that I have marked as junk automatically to the junk folder? Just marking it is worthless. It still means I have to scan it and throw it away. If a sender is marked as junk I don't want to ever see their email in my in-box.

I finally worked out the answer. You must set up a filter that moves the junk emails to the junk folder AFTER applying the junk designation. Seems to work well now.

Or you could just setup junk controls and do it the easy way. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Junk_Mail_Controls
