Hi not sure what has happened. I am on Thunderbird 52.4.0 (32 bit) and it will not download emails with the error message:

"Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disc space to copy the mailbox."

Tbird just produced a crash report:

AdapterDeviceID: 0x03d6 AdapterDriverVersion: 9.18.13.783 AdapterSubsysID: 03d61849 AdapterVendorID: 0x10de Add-ons: bdThunderbird%40bitdefender.com:7.0,%7Be2fda1a4-762b-4020-b5ad-a41df1933103%7D:5.4.4,%7B972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd%7D:52.4.0,en-gb%40flyingtophat.co.uk:1.19.6 AvailablePageFile: 4699881472 AvailablePhysicalMemory: 1551007744

Hope this helps diagnose the problem.

Now I cant get into Thunderbird as it crashes on start up.

Tried going back to an earlier version but they all fail to download.

This is ALL very annoying.

Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird

Is there any difference?

Sorry, this didn't make any difference and was one of the first things I tried.

Now I cannot get into TB at all as it crashes as soon as I go into it.

... this ... was one of the first things I tried.

Then why didn't you mention it in the first place? Please post a crash ID. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/mozilla-crash-reporter-tb#w_viewing-crash-reports

Unfortunately I do not keep all that is necessary to report in my mind. Having fought this for the last couple of days, frustration has overcome what you accept as logical.

I can't tell much about the crash report, presumably some one else will chime in.

In the mean time try to start Windows in safe mode with networking enabled. - Win10 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode - Win8 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17076/windows-8-startup-settings-safe-mode - Win7 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17419/windows-7-advanced-startup-options-safe-mode#start-computer-safe-mode=windows-7

Does the problem go away?

Hi Wayne, Now I can't download the link you have sent me. The downloader just 'bounces' and it says TB etc failed.

Hi Wayne, I worked out via Utube how to overcome me 'cant create file' problem and managed to download and install your exe. It works fine.

Thanks very much.
