Clipboard / text select failure after install (Andr Sams S10e)
2019 / 08 After install text selection does not work. Upon reopening I could highlight text but had no actions controls available.
After a force stop the text selection, popup menu (cut copy paste) and connection to the clipboard worked normally.
Duck duck Go search had issues on my old G6 when executed from this context(ual) menu.
Here (S10) it fails initially and now works fine.
Top search results led to a Moz support form I had no acees to. Other results (falsely) portray a continuous state of broken CB going back ten years (PC platforms and mobile.)
This apparent situation given FF didn't work at all (crashed on LG6) in mid 2018 meant switching back to Chrome.
Except probing to make notes for the eventual correct forum (here) actually fixed the issue.
See. Stubborn is a good thing. I was enraged at the thought of using Chrome again. Lol.

Could you explain the steps you took for "reopening" and "force stop"?
THIS PROBLEMIS NOW BACK.
A reboot and force stop do not effect it.
I can select text but even scrolling does not trigger the action control.
I have to say the folks on the internet are correct.
First, no clipboard makes a useless browser for work.
Second, it is so all pervasive and simple that it is cause for some serious doubt. This is 2019.
Sure Jscher. I first just "swipe" it out of my open apps. And then select it in the home screen.
Second, I go to app info and chose force stop. And reopen it.
(usually) I then use app info to clear the cache. You could clear data too. You could reinstall. But that only addresses certain types of bugs.
What tool would I use right now to collect details for example. Is this a known bug? I had it on two phones now. My new device could be hacked as well, which is a different process. You get it?
Okay, the first step to copy is usually a long press. Long press doesn't give you a floating command bar with a Copy option? Is this specific to particular sites or kinds of sites, or are you unable to select text or view a command bar anywhere?
OMG. Actually... I randomly hit a web site that blocks the clipboard. Lol. Which...
Firsrt, makes Mozilla look incompetent. And... Second, is completely is unacceptable. I am not asking their permission. I have OCR. I don't need their permission. Sheesh.
Perhaps when sites block key functionality a toast message could appear. I am reviewing Bugzilla now. Apologies .
Hi jscher. Through dumb luck I hit a buggy site while testing.
This site bug includes: The Intercept Specifically Coral Talk comments.
I thought it was clipboard blocking. It could be given their policies but I don't kniw.
The comments on The Intercept seem to be in a page embedded in a frame. I say that because I can have a selection in multiple comments sections, which wouldn't be possible if they were all in one page. Anyway, I only get the command bar when I select the first comment. Any lower than that, I don't get the bar. Not sure why, but I suspect it is related to being in a frame.

Hi X.
Odd. I had this on two phones. The other being an LG G6 vs a Samsung S10e? I am a commercial hacking target among other things but the behavior points to the mundane.
I did many things so far (like that.) [Testing Chrime] Troubleshooting (as you know) creates a lot of details quickly.
In this case, I now also can get it, again only in the comments section, on another site. Suggesting UI controls and only on mobile Firefox for Android. Chrome's fine.
This type of cross site problem is best between your team and Mozilla. Ie Where I do tests as asked like above. Or I cross post, CC or something.

And how can I help? Regards.

Here's another thread where the user reported problems copying from comments sections. I requested that a bug be reopened so the developers can research it further.
Whoops, forgot to paste the link:
