For some reason my firefox history is always incomplete. E.g. when I search for something on duckduckgo and then visit stackoverflow, it often doesn't add the visited page (in this case stackoverflow) to the history.

Do you have stackoverflow or duckduckgo in your permissions file to deny saving cookies/history?

I somehow wasn't notified of your answer, so I'm only coming back now. Of course there is nothing blacklisted, these were only examples. But I found the culprit:

The history sidebar is sorted by date by default, which for some reason sorts the pages for each date somewhat alphabetically - so the entries were there but not in the expected order. Changing the view to "Last Visited" fixes it. Kinda sad that I loose the grouping then though...
