I contacted email provider (Earthlink) and all settings in Thunderbird are correct.

Green bar just keeping blinking but doesn't complete sending. It works on my cellphone but that isn't using Thunderbird.

Works also if i use Earthlink webmail site.

Just quit working yesterday morning. Seems like a bug in software update.

UPDATE: This is assuming you are still running version 88 beta

Menu app icon > Options > General Scroll to bottom (or type: Config Editor into the 'Find in Options' top right search) click on 'Config Editor' Then you can search for: jsmodule It should show you the two preferences: "mailnews.send.jsmodule" and "mailnews.smtp.jsmodule" Double click on each line to toggle the preference from True to False Close the config window Restart Thunderbird.

The current release is 78.9.0

If you want to downgrade back to that version then there is a process to be able to achieve this. then you can test sending is still ok.

  • Exit Thunderbird.
  • Uninstall Thunderbird.

Download fresh version from here:

  • Download, install, BUT it is important you do NOT run.

This is because Thunderbird uses a dedicated profile per installation. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/dedicated-profile-thunderbird-installation#w_what-happens-to-my-profile-if-i-downgrade-to-a-previous-version-of-thunderbird

You need to start the Profile Manager and use specific instruction to allow the downgrade to work. Some info about profile manager: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-thunderbird-profiles#w_start-the-profile-manager-when-thunderbird-is-closed But basically do the following:

  • In Windows search type : Run and select the 'Run.app'
  • Type: thunderbird.exe -P --allow-downgrade

Note there is a space before and after -P

  • click on OK

Thunderbird profile manager should start.

  • Select Profile and click on 'Start Thunderbird'.

Does this now allow you to send?

REgarding version 88 - beta release notes: https://www-stage.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/88.0beta/releasenotes/

TB changed the sending pipeline completely in TB 88. Resulting problems are investigated in bug 1702360. Check the release notes to find out how to revert to the "old" sending pipeline: https://www-stage.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/88.0beta/releasenotes/ The old behavior can be restored by setting the preferences "mailnews.send.jsmodule" and "mailnews.smtp.jsmodule" to false.

Can you pleas check this out and report back on results.

Don't know where to find the setting preferences. I have looked at most of the features under options. Can you tell me exactly where i need to make this change?
