How do I delete junk mail without opening it (and thus encouraging them to send more)? I am receiving lots of backdated garbage with no unsubscribe option and a fake Amazon return address. The stuff is easy to spot by the old dates.

Neither of these replies are answering the question. Each piece of junk is labeled with a slightly different sender. I am asking how I get rid of it without opening it once it shows up in Mozilla Thunderbird. My old system let me select certain e-mails without opening, and then delete all of them. Thunderbird lets me mark stars, but then how do I delete them?
