migrating older bookmarks to newer firefox on new laptop.
HI, I was trying to open my older bookmarks in firefox and 1) found them all converted back to JSON from HTML. These are very precious bookmarks and would like them back, any ideas how? By the way i've lost the bookmarks from this new computer to the JSON format too (when i had or reset because the old password would not work) . It all makes me want to cry.

If you created an HTML backup yourself then this backup should always stay an HTML backup. Only automatically created backups stored in the bookmarkbackups folder are in JSON format. These JSON backups are also compressed with LZ4 as you can see by the file extension. You can either create an HTML backup or a JSON backup in the Bookmarks Manager (Library).

Note that a JSON backup needs to be restored and replaces all current bookmark, so you only have the bookmarks present in the backup. Bookmarks imported via an HTML backup are merged with the existing bookmarks, so you can end up with duplicate bookmarks.
I'm sorry I think my question was not clear enough. Book marks for firefox in my old computer ended with .html and firefox was able to back up, restore, and open these links. In the new computer my bookmark files suddenly end with .json and I cannot restore them to firefox because it looks like firefox does not know what to do with the file. I also backed up some new stuff I saved on the new computer from the new version of firefox it saved in JSON and firefox could not restore that back up either.
