Message filters stopped running but do work manually
I'm running 78.13.0 (32-bit) and am on the release update channel.
After the most recent update message filters have stopped running automatically. Strange thing is if I go Tools>Run Filters on Folders, then the messages are routed to their respective folders. Curious thing is, this is one of five Inboxes and only one is experiencing this. I'm bumfuddled.
What have I tried? Restarting. Restarting in Safe Mode. Rebooting.
Another thing, if I go to Tools>Message Filters and find/highlight the particular filter, then click Run Filter, nothing happens - but - if I click on Edit the filter, do absolutely nothing but close it, then click Run Filter again, it works.
But the main thing that has me perplexed is from the inbox, manually selecting Tools>Run Filters works. It's like the filters are never being launched automatically when messages arrive. Thoughts?

Hi, TB91, win10 After Tools-Message filters Choose Filters for > Choose account from drop-down list Choose Run selected filters on > Choose the folder in which the emails are
Note:
If a filter contains multiple choices change to Choose any of the following
Sorry, this doesn't address the issue. Look, if I click on the filter and tell it to run now, it works.
The problem is these filters 'all' previously ran automatically. Not they've stopped working automatically. They do work manually. Every time. This tells me the filter is written correctly (which I knew because they have always run).
It's the latest update that broke them. And I cannot find what's broken because they work perfectly manually.
Almost like the run filters automatically never starts.
I would recommend the following
1. Backup your emails using import/export tools ng addon. 2. Export your contacts and calendars 3. Delete your profile from windows local and roaming folders ( if windows OS is used) 4. Uninstall Thunderbird 5. Re-install Thunderbird ( Why not version for 64 bit?) 4. Recreate your accounts 5. Import emails, contacts and calendars from backup. 6. Create filters
Notes: Version of windows used? Are you an IMAP or POP account user? Same procedure is recommended when wanting to upgrade to TB 91

There are 181 message filters handing the volume of mail I receive, recreating all of those is a lot of work. Honestly, this is the third time this has happened over the course of the years I've been using TB. Strikes me, considering I'm not using any add-ons, this must be something happening when the program is updated. I think better for me to stop updating once I figure out what is going on because recreating filters is an entire day of labor.
Anyway, another piece of data. If I click Tools>Run Filters on Folders . . . messages are then sorted to folders.
So this confirms problem with TB regards starting the filter process. Does this help guide us to where to look?
Finally, to your questions regarding hardware/software: Windows 10 on a PC with 16GB of RAM. Have not installed new software in years. This computer's job is principally email. There are five accounts, a mix of IMAP and POP. Filters are a problem on one IMAP account. Others are working normally. Qty 181 filters between them.
Do developers ever look at user problems? Are you a developer, or a user like me who is more knowledgeable? Regardless, I thank you for taking of your personal time to try and help me. I offer my sincere thanks to you!
Stop searching false solutions. Using import export tools ng export all emails in eml format. Export calendars and contacts. For imap accounts no worry. All data are kept on provider server. Delete your profile in local and roaming folders. Uninstaller tb78. Install tb91 and create a new profile. To import emails use the free application maidstone for pops3 accounts. Emails for images accounts are on provider server. A little job but clean procedure and without future headaches. If any additional help is Required contact me by email.

So ultimately I have to manually recreate the 181 filters because there's no tool or utility for doing this?
Is there a clue within this filter log? Note, if I click run filters on folder, everything filters as it should.

This painful process is likely unnecessary.

. . . I know there must be a way to copy the whole thing out but I couldn't figure it out so I copied out each error group one by one. Many thanks in advance! -- John
I manually repaired all 181 filters. Everything is working again. Litterally took an entire work day.
Unfortunately, I'm stupid and forgot to turn off automatic updating. This, because if Thunderbird updates are going to break my message rules, I don't need the latest version and I don't care about any new features. I just need it to work and it does until they break it.
The point is, I've screwed the pooch because it's downloaded the latest update (I'm on the release channel). And since I'm gunshy about letting it update, is there any way to stop it now that it's been downloaded?
It wants me to restart to apply the update. I honestly cannot afford to take another day off work if this update breaks my message rules again. I just can't . . . so I'd rather just leave it on an older release from now on.
Kindly advise, please? And many, many thanks. I am keenly aware folks are volunteering to help me.
