Firefox not starting on N900.
Just downloaded and installed Firefox on my Nokia N900. Started it for the first time and it updated my addons and plugins. Now it won't run at all.
I tap the icon and the "Use positioning?" requester pops up. Then the "Select Access Point" requester pops up. Just visible in the background I see the N900 go back to desktop. Despite selecting my GPRS connection and canceling the "Use positioning?" requester Firefox refuses to start, but it insists on enabling positioning, even though I didn't allow it. When I run Conky (System monitor for N900) I can see that Fennec is actually running in the background, even though no sign of FF on screen. I also have no way of disabling the GPS without resorting to restarting the N900.
I have no idea what addons/plugins are enabled because I have no way of checking.
Any ideas appreciated
Thanks

Try typing "fennec -safe-mode" into the "X Terminal" application to start with extensions disabled.
If that doesn't work, you can try deleting your profile ("mv .mozilla .mozilla-backup") or creating a fresh profile ("fennec -ProfileManager").
Let me know if this helps...
Thanks for the reply and suggestions.
I'll give them a spin sometime today and get back with the results.
Thanks.
Nope, none of that works I'm afraid.
With the mv .mozilla .mozilla-backup command X-Term tells me mv: cannot rename '.mozilla': No such file or directory Then throws me back to /home/user/ #
In addition to the problems my default browser no longer works???
Oops, sorry for not providing more detail. The "mv" command temporarily renames your old profile directory from ".mozilla" to ".mozilla-backup". After running that command, try starting Firefox normally.
If that doesn't work, you can restore your profile to its original state. First make sure to remove any new profile that was created: mv .mozilla .mozilla-new (if you get a "No such file" error that is fine.)
Then do: mv .mozilla-backup .mozilla
OK, thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home. Another problem is that I now can't use Ovi Store. Any way of restoring the default browser for now?
Thanks.
I'm not sure why the default browser isn't working on your N900. If it's related to renaming your Mozilla profile folder, then renaming it back (using the instructions above) should restore it to normal.
Couldn't get this to work at all, I'm afraid. I've asked a few questions on Maemo.org to see if they can throw any light on it. I have however restored a previous backup (only made a few days before the problems started) and everything seems to be up and running again, although I'll give FF a miss at the moment and try the next updated version.
Now if I had TWO N900s I could use one for bashing about. :oP
Thanks for your time anyway.
