When I click on a video 'thumbnail' to run it there is a black rectangle appears where the video clip should be running. I don't have this problem with youtube. I have the latest version of the flash plugin (10,1,85,3 ), Firefox 3.6.12 on Youtube with Noscript, AVG Safe Search and Firemonkey enabled.

Disabling noscript makes no difference. I uninstalled and reinstalled both browser (kept preferences) and the flash plugin - no change.

It used to work some months back.

  • If you use extensions like Adblock Plus or NoScript or Flashblock that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
