Having previously selected the option to restore the previous session's windows and tabs when starting firefox, i noticed that this had stopped happening. when i went to click on 'Restore Previous Session' and 'Recently Closed Windows' instead, these options were unavailable. I clicked on History, hoping to recover my tabs from there, but my history had all been deleted. The next time I used firefox the same thing happened, and all my history had again been deleted without any deliberate action on my part.

You are probably using private browsing. It is possible to set Firefox to clear history when it closes, you may have inadvertently done that.

  • See private browsing <-- clickable link
  • Use Firefox button -> Options -> | Privacy | -> History
    and check your settings (click on the down arrow)
