I recently upgraded to Firefox 8.0 and it crashes on launch with the following message: "The instruction at 0x10007c56 referenced memory at 0x10007c56. The memory could not be read".

Firefox does launch immediately upon installation if the "launch Firefox now" box is checked. It will launch in Windows "safe mode with networking". It will not launch in "Firefox safe mode" by holding down the shift key.

(Original poster) I have already performed the following steps:

1) Scanned for viruses/malware with Malware Bytes and Avast! 2) Updated Windows 3) Uninstalled/reinstalled FF saving personal information 4) Uninstalled/reinstalled FF NOT saving personal information.

Did you also delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) after uninstalling Firefox to remove any leftover files?

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

Yeah, I just tried that. No luck. It will still only launch from the "Launch Firefox now" button on initial install, or from the link in the text box after error reporting is completed.

I tried typing about: crashes in the address window, and it says I haven't reported any crashes.

Per this site's recommendation, I copied everything from Troubleshooting Info in the Help bar:
