in the setting I have old password that doesn't match to a new one, however for some reason firefox can login without even promting me to enter login and password. I know it's convenient but when is the password locates? Already rebooted PC. Still remembering it.

Please let me know, Thanks

Hey john9999,

I think you are asking how you can get Firefox to forget a password for a site. Is that correct?

Go to Tools >Options >Security tab click on Saved passwords. This will give you a list of sites that you have saved a password for. Just find your site and delete that entry.

There is a lot of useful information in this article about the Firefox Password Manager. It should answer any other questions you might have.

You can also remove the cookies from that site to make the site forget you if you've created a remember me cookie by going to Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Hopefully this helps!

I think you didn't get my question. Sorry for my poor explanation. I know how to make a browser to erase the info. However my question is, if in a saved passwords it has OLD password, and I changed password on gmail but not in firefox. So, the firefox still thinking that it needs to use that OLD password, however it logs normally with a new one. How does the firefox know what password to use? Where is my new password saved? I was thinking maybe some where in cookies... Where can I get it from?

It should be somewhere, because when I close the browser and open it again (even restart the PC), I type gmail.com and it goes straight to the email where I can see my emails....

Websites remembering you and automatically log you on is stored in a cookie.

You can remove cookies from that site.

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

If you want to remove saved form data from a drop down list then use these steps:

  1. Click the (empty) input field on the web page to open the drop down list
  2. Highlight an entry in the drop down list
  3. Press the Delete key (on Mac: Shift+Delete) to remove it.
  • Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"

You can remove a wrong password in the Password Manager and let Firefox save the new password, but you first need to sign off to make Firefox ask that.
