Ever since upgrading to 9.0 and even 10, every time I attempt to download a file, it gets to the high 90% and crashes. I've submitted an error report every time.

(although I say EVERY time, there has been the extremely rare occurance when a download has been successful. There has been no rhyme or reason to the download succeeding).

I have tried running in safe mode with all plugins disabled and the exact same thing happens.

This is on my work computer, but I have only encountered this problem since upgrading to the two most recent versions of firefox.

I have reset all the settings to factory default. I have cleared the cache. I have reset the computer multiple times.

According to my crash log, before upgrading to 9.0, my last crash report was submitted in July 2011. I upgraded to 9.0 after returning from Christmas vacation - early january. Since 16 January, I have submitted 31 crash reports (I've attached my first from 16 Jan, any my most recent from today).'bold text'

Hi,

Can it be a security software scanning the downloads? Firefox needs to write to a temporary file on disk continuously and then write it permanently. In the downloads folder - folder setting is in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > General - you can check if the .part temporary file is being incremented in consonance with the internet speed.

You can also view more helpful info on the submitted crash reports by typing in about:crashes in the location (address) bar and clicking on a link.

Everything seems to be working fine - I've even watched the download folder while it's downloading and the download seems to be perfectly ok. Then it gets to about 2-3 minutes from completion, and it just crashes. Not just the download failing, but firefox itself crashes.

It even did it in safe mode.

This afternoon I reverted to v3.6, and it did the same thing.

Perhaps it's more a network issue?

When the download completes the file would change to the original extension like .zip, .exe etc. If this isn't happening, there may be an interruption possibly from another application.

Having the same problem since upgrading to Firefox 10. (No issue with Firefox 9). I've tried disabling all of my add-ons, clearing out my download folder, disabling the virus scan after download setting (also tried quitting my virus scanning prog altogether). I have plenty of room on my disk. This has happened with both EXE and non-EXE files (Yes, I'm on a Mac but I still need to download EXE files). CPU usage usually spikes to about 80%, and Firefox is immediately unresponsive. No crash report is generated and I have to force quit and restart the application. Usually only part of the application is downloaded, and the .part file appears to be removed after I quit.
