Ever since the upgrade to FF 12, Firefox remembers passwords from PREVIOUS sites, but when I update the password to a site it previously remembered, it does not prompt me with "do you want to update the password for this site" as it used to, nor will it offer to remember passwords for NEW sites. I have nothing in my exceptions list, I am NOT doing private browsing.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

No. I had gone through the faq here already, and it discusses how Firefox SHOULD work.

I am not sure which of the last two suggestions worked, but one of them did, might have been the hardware acceleration, or a ton of sites that were in my exceptions list or whatever, but I thank you as it appears to be working now. (Ok, test non-exhaustive, total of 2 sites but at least Firefox is ASKING now so that is definitely a step in the right direction). Thank you.

Glad to see its working now..
