I've sorted my tabs into groups, but when I go to open a tab from a group I see tabs from every group jumbled together. They appear under their seperate groups when viewing the groups panel though. After restarting Firefox all the tabs are no longer displayed in their groups, they're all bunched together on the groups panel. I've checked my profiles folder and none of the .js files are set to read-only. Any idea what might be going on here?

Does this happen in a new profile with a test group of tabs? Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Delete the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

It does not occur in a new test profile. Oddly, it also does not occur in any new windows opened in the current profile.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.
