On Wednesday 12/11 at approx 4PM PT, Thunderbird stopped being able to log in to my sbcglobal.net POP3 account. It had been receiving emails routinely up to that time. There are two error messages associated with this. One happens if TB has been open and I ask it to download new messages using the little cloud symbol or “Get Messages”: “The account xxx@sbcglobal.net is being processed. Please wait until processing is complete to get messages.” Or if I open TB and it just starts with the login process, the error messages is a popup: “Connection to server inbound.att.net timed out.” TB manages two other accounts, both of which are functioning normally. One of them is also an sbcglobal.net account, and both sbcglobal accounts are set up identically: Port 995, SSL/TLS, Secure Mail Key (rather than OAuth2). Version is 115.18.0 32bit, Windows 22H2. Logging in to the server shows many emails that have arrived since the problem started. I have gotten nowhere with ATT/SBC, they don't seem to want to provide any support anymore if they hear the word Thunderbird. Can you help?

Was getting an error message initially that another operation was preventing the inbox from working as intended and to wait until that operation was finished. I do not know what that operation is.
I now no longer get the error message - just no new emails in the inbox.
How do I get inbox messages to return?

Background: I used Outlook Express until Microsoft killed it, and have used Outlook 2013 since. Now Microsoft has forced me to abandon that due to Oauth2 not being supported, so I am looking for a replacement.
Thunderbird seems to be a recommended solution, but despite poking around in the community forums and help files, I am not finding straightforward answers to my questions on the current platform. (Side note: I have been using Firefox since it was Phoenix and then Firebird, and then Firefox, but never really used Thunderbird.)
I found and attempted to follow the instructions for import here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-import but it must not work with older versions of Outlook, as I got a message saying "No profile found." (I ran it under the same user, an admin, that has the Outlook 2013 installed, so I don't know where it is looking for that profile). Import from a file doesn't give the option to use the Outlook file types.
So, given that, how can I import my email and address book from Outlook 2013?

For example, when typing the sender's name, the results show emails from other senders, and the sought name can be found in the 'Copy' field or in the message text. However, quick filtering works as before, fully correctly in Troubleshooting mode 😳 Attached screenshots with quick filtering results shown when opening TB in 'Normal' and in Troubleshooting mode.

I have a downloaded message in Thunderbird that has no content and I can't delete. When I single click on the message nothing happens (I stay on the previously selected message). When I double click the message I get a blank screen.
There is therefore no way I can delete this message. Nor can I do anything else with it (reply, move, copy etc). I have tried closing and re-starting Thunderbird but the problem persists.
All other messages I can open and delete as normal

I put in the password and am told that I am not communicating with my mail server on the BT site. However, when I access the BT site directly, I can send and receive email OK. The problem is on my home computer and the Thunderball applications.

This is a long lasting account, since I started mailing, so its quite big.

Click on View Toolbars, but Formatting toolbar is not on list. Just "Menu Bar," "Composition Toolbar," "Status bar," and "Customize". The missing buttons are NOT in Customize.

When I right click on Trash and select "Empty trash" emails are removed but empty subfolders remain. If I try to delete them individually, they simply show up again as they are added to the trash folder.
Apparently there is no way to remove these empty subfolders from trash.
Help!
