Using Macbook pro, chrome OSX Maverick 10.9.5, Firefox; I get redirected quite often. Can you help?.
I get redirected when clicking on a link. I get a quick view of what should be the page for less than a second then redirected to a Yahoo error or similar page. The redirection seems to occur, sometimes, when there is a slight delay in loading the selected link. Thanks for any help!

Hello,
I am suspecting your browser bars such as:
- SearchMe
- Slick Savings
These are potentially unwanted programs (PUP) that are usually bundled with other software. The following are Windows guides but you may be able to remove them by uninstalling their toolbars and maybe resetting your Firefox profile:
- http://malwaretips.com/blogs/slick-savings-virus/
You can uninstall toolbars by entering about:addons in your address bar and clicking Extensions, or:
- Tools (or ) > Add-ons > Extensions
And remove them.
If the above doesn't remove the redirect, the Reset Firefox feature can also fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
- At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox". Click on it.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
