Hi

I am having a bit of trouble because when I close Firefox and reopen it, instead of the Blank page I have set it to show me, it shows me my previous session. I have turned of all my addons and started it in Safe Mode, but it still does the same thing.

I have checked all the settings I can find, but nothing works. I have the latest version of Firefox.

Any suggestions?

One of my addons is the session manager but even disabled, Firefox does the same thing.

Thanks in advance

Niels

You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that sets the browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once pref to true.

You can delete the user.js file.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

Windows hides some file extensions by default. Among them are .html and .ini and .js and .txt, so you may only see file name without file extension. You can see the real file type (file extension) in the properties of the file via the right-click context menu in Windows Explorer.

I took this from another outdated thread and updated it to the current version:

Configuring session restore

By default, when Firefox starts, a single window is opened, displaying your specified home page. To change it follow the following steps:

  • At the top of the Firefox window, click on Tools. (Click alt if you dont see it)
  • Select the General panel.
  • Under the Startup you will see the text "When Firefox starts" next to it there will be a drop down button.
  • Select "Show my Home Page"
  • Click OK to close the Options window

Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar.

There are two settings;

  • When Firefox Starts

When the browser is started, what do you want to display. Many of us choose Show My Home Page.

  • Home Page

When a new page is opened, what do you want displayed.

  1. Use Current Page. Use what ever page(s) are open at that time.
  2. Use Bookmark
  3. Restore To Default. about:home shows a Mozilla home page with tools.

You can use any of these that you wish;

about:home (Firefox default home page), about:newtab (shows the sites most visited), about:blank (a blank page),

or you can enter any web page or about: page you want.
