HOW CAN I FIX THE PROBLEM, "FIREFOX IS INCOMPATIBLE" IN MY FIREFOX TROUBLESHOOTING REPORT?
On my desk top when I click on the firefox icon, up pops "USER ACCOUNT CONTROL" - DO YOU WANT TO ALLOW THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM TO MAKE CHANGES TO THIS COMPUTER? (the program name is firefox). I click on "YES" and my opening page pops up. This the only way I can access my laptop browser which is firefox. The trouble shooting report states "Firefox IS INCOMPATIBLE". HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM? THANKS.

Hi Sashoto: Since I am not a computer wiz I overlooked an important piece of info I have WINDOWS 7 Home Edition NOT WINDOWS XP. Therefore I am thinking that FIREFOX UPDATE 36 version should work with WINDOWS 7. Any new recommendations for a solution to my problem? THANKS!
Please follow these steps and let me know if these works:
- Open Windows Task Manager
- Click on Processes Tab
- Click on Show Processes from All Users
- You might be prompted for confirmation. Say yes or type the password.
- Search for firefox.exe or similar process
- Right click the process, and select End Process Tree
- Now open Computer > (C:) Drive > Program Files (x86) > Mozilla Firefox > Uninstall > helper.exe
- Run the un-installer
- Restart your PC
- Reinstall Mozilla Firefox

Hi KENNETHM, upgrade versions of Firefox doesn't support some versions of windows XP. You have upgrade your service pack or switch to opera. For more: no longer works with some versions of Windows XP
The problem for which I need help developed after a program crash. My version of XP Home Premium came installed on my laptop purchased in 2/2013. I am not familiar with windows service pack #1, 2, and 3. I know Mozilla updates Firefox automatically and I believe I have version 36 or 38. Thanks.

Higher version of Firefox will not support your version of XP. So to use updated Firefox you have to use higher version of windows or else I'm afraid you can't use any further version's of Firefox.

Hi Sashoto! I followed your recommendation with all the step you listed. Everything is working okay. There are no longer any incompatibiliy issues. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!! KENNETHM
If it happens again then check this:
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties". Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
- Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
- "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
