I have a new laptop running Windows 8.1. My Thunderbird account is linked to my gmail accounts. Have all my emails. Carbonite has restored my Thunderbird data on my new computer. I don't know how to restore my contacts and settings in Thunderbird. The directions they gave me are too complicated. I need step by step directions in layman's terms. Thanks!

What did you backup ? It is usual to backup the entire Profile as this would backup everything.

Did you backup the Profile folder name; a folder called 'xxxxxxxx.default', where the x's are random letters amd numbers?

Did you export your address books and save as LDIF or comma separated.csv files?
