Why does Thunderbird immediately de-select emails in the list? This makes deleting multipe emails a HUGE pia.
In previous version, I would have a list of 100+ emails. I could start at the top, See one, delete it by just hitting the delete key, then the next and so on. Now after I delete one I have to manually mouse click to select the next one, every time this is miserable. Is there a way to get back the previous behavior?

Why don't you simply select all of the 100+ emails and delete them in one step?
Because I want to read each one first, then delete the ones I don't want to keep.
Thunderbird will normally open the next message if you delete the message that you are reading. This is due to it selecting the next message as a side ffect of deleting the current message.

You can also try to start Thunderbird in safe mode to see if that makes any difference. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
That is not my problem. Yes the next message is opened and immediately de-selected, so that hitting delete has no effect. I have to reselect it in the list to delete it. Then, the next loads, which is fine but again no longer select, forcing me to reselect again to dele it, and so on. NO PREVOIUS VERSION DID THIS.
When running thunderbird in safe mode: in thunderbird Help > Restart with addons disabled
Does it still misbehave or work ok in safe mode?
I did not try that, I fixed it by going to the newest beta version, which seems fine.
