In the past I somehow was able to connect to Yahoo using Thunderbird, but for the life of me I don't remember how I did it. I accessed it through a line that is at the bottom of the e-mail window and the window that shows what the e-mail message contains. What must I do so that I can again access the internet using Thunderbird along with Yahoo.com?

My problem is not with receiving e-mails. What I want is another source for NEWS from the Internet, which Yahoo does, with one annoyance. I want my news from the US but Yahoo persists in giving me news from Germany. If anybody know how to get around this 'wart' I would appreciate hearing about it.

You can connect Thunderbird to Yahoo using either the IMAP protocol or the POP protocol.

IMAP creates a local mirror of your mail folders on the server, and what you do locally synchronizes to the server, including sending messages, moving them to folders, and deleting them.

POP downloads a copy of the messages received in your inbox on the server, and normally what you do locally does not affect what happens on the server (there is an option to remove old messages from the server or mirror your deletes, but I don't recommend it).

Hi warp4dennis, are you viewing Yahoo! news in Thunderbird or in your web browser (e.g., Firefox, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, Opera...)?

You may wish to add the Yahoo News RSS feed to TB. File/New/Feed Account (if Blogs and News Feeds doesn't already exist in the folder pane with other accounts). Under Manage Subscriptions, add this URL for Yahoo News. You can add other feeds for sports, finance etc.
