Just installed thunderbird, i knew about the calendar but have never used it. Thought i'd give it a try, but i don't understand how it works. I'm clearly logged into my gmail account and not a single calendar entry is synced, i can't find any settings that would prevent it from syncing the calendar. Basically i'm baffled.

This is how it looks here - see screenshot. To bring up the main menu bar press Alt or F10.

If you don't have the 'New' menu item underneath 'File' (whatever that is in your language), try to create a new profile, and start Thunderbird with the new profile. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/using-multiple-profiles

Wow, that was way more complicated than it needed to be.

After having installed thunderbird, and wanted to install a secondary dictionary. I noticed that it tries to install the addons in firefox over thunderbird, same thing happens with the provider thing. I have not experienced this before.

Edit: This "Go to the Thunderbird's File menu and select New. From the sub-menu, select Calendar." doesn't exist. There is no "new" in file. There's open, close, download new emails from, subscriptions, optimize and offline.

How come i can't install addons like i used too, directly into thunderbird like you do in firefox? I just assume there's a reason it's gotten more complicated.

The way how Thunderbird add-ons are being installed hasn't changed in ages. If your problem is fixed can you mark the topic as 'Solved' please? Thank you.

That's odd, because i've never installed addons that way before. It isn't fixed, as mentioned above, the description in the guide doesn't correspond to the ui.

Oh, there's two "file" menus and they're not the same.
