I wish to copy some of my emails to my add-on hard drive.
I need to cancel my subscription to one of my email addresses and back up the emails so that they can delete them when the email address is cancelled. I watched a video about getting into Mozilla Thunderbird's Help section, then finding troubleshooting info, followed by the profile folder, etc. etc. but cannot find any of these headings when I click on the Help button. Could you help me please.

The Help menu is on the Menu Bar just like it is in all software. If your Menu bar is hidden press the alt key to reveal it.
You could also make folders under the Local Folders account and move the messages there. They would be more accessible than just copying files to some random place on your hard drive with no way to view them.
If you do this I would COPY the messages to the new Local Folders folders instead of move them. If something goes wrong with the move the original messages will still be on the server. When you have got the messages copied and you have confirmed that you have the entire message and not just the header and that you can open them and read them, you can remove the copies from the server.
