Hi Margaret

I am not sure what you mean. Is there a file that keeps trying to download in Firefox for Android?

HI, Yes. I tried to download the Recycling calendar from the Town Council website onto my tablet. It started on Wednesday afternoon and at the moment it is showing about 80% complete. It normally takes about 20 seconds. I have tried to Pause it and to Cancel it to no avail. It seems as if it is on some kind of loop, but it is stopping me downloading anything else.

Hi Margaret

Which town council is this for? I want to try to download it myself and then walk you through how to stop it.

Hi Seburo, Thankyou for trying to helpme/ Its Colchester (uk) https://www.colchester.gov.uk/recycling-and-rubbish/ You will need to put in a post code, so if you put the one for the council offices I think it will do the trick

Hi Margaret

(I am based the other side of London (and a bit further south)).

I have just tried it myself, and the download went through really quickly. I recomend making you have turned off both WiFi and any mobile data, then swipe down from the top of the screen so you can see the download notification, before swiping it to one side to clear it.

Hi Seburo No joy I am afraid. Interestingly, even with the wifi switched off the tablet still indicates that the document is downloading. I tried swiping it away, but all I get is the option to silence the notifications for a short while, or the settings menu. I have tried downloading something else, and that works. I am beginning to think I am going to have to remove Mozilla and then re-instate it.

There is one other way that may work:

  1. Open the Android Settings app (typically a cogwheel icon)
  2. Select Applications
  3. Tap the three dots in the top right and "Show system"
  4. Find the Download Manager and select Force Stop. Under storage for that app, select Clear Data.
  5. Turn your device off and back on again and the download should be stopped.

This is not an issue with Firefox for Android but a component of Android that just needs to be reset. I hope this helps.
